Earthworks is a small, independently-run college for crystal therapy, accredited by the Affiliation of Crystal Healing Organisations (ACHO).
We are located in the tiny Hamlet of Avoncliff, near Bath. The setting is both peaceful and beautiful. The school is based in an 18th Century house overlooking the River Avon.
Classes usually have no more than 8 students, with a maximum of 12, to allow for a high level of individual attention, and there is an emphasis on hands-on experience, self-development, the building of self-trust, ethical practice, and integration of students’ existing knowledge and work.
Janelle Scialla (School Principal)
Facilitator of Crystal Therapy, Energy Therapy, and Geology, Mineralogy, and Crystallography for Crystal Therapists
Janelle Scialla is a leading expert in Crystal therapy.
She spent her early years in New Mexico, where childhood rock hunting inspired her lifelong passion for all things mineral, and where she later studied music performance at the University of New Mexico. Janelle has lived in the UK since 1976, when she started her postgraduate study at the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She worked in music performance and education, as both a professional musician and vocalist from 1977 – 2002, while also teaching music peripatetically in London. She did further postgraduate study and research in education from 2011-12 using the Action Research Living Theory model under Professor Jack Whitehead.
Janelle trained in martial arts and a variety of therapeutic modalities, including energy therapy, crystal therapy, colour therapy, flower and gem essences, sound healing, craniosacral therapy, and shiatsu, as well as sacred geometry, alchemy, tarot, and shamanism. Her educational path included medical training, and geology and mineralogy. She has also rigorously investigated the historical traditions and beliefs regarding the medicinal and talismanic use of gemstones and minerals.
Janelle has been a therapeutic practitioner since 1995, a course and workshop facilitator since 2003, and Principal of Earthworks School for the Healing Arts since 2005, when she devised Full Spectrum Healing (now known as Full Spectrum Crystal Therapy), an integrated approach to practitioner training. She is a Senior Member of/advisor to the British Register of Complimentary Practitioners (BRCP), Treasurer of the Affiliation of Crystal Healing Organisations (ACHO), and previously chaired the Association for Therapeutic Healers (ATH) from 2010 – 13. She is one of the developers of the current national training standards and code of conduct for crystal therapy in the UK.
As a published author and photographer, Janelle regularly contributes articles to various magazines, websites, books, and booklets, and presents a series of YouTube videos on crystal therapy for Crystal Age TV. She is the owner of Rebel Angel Crystal Shop.
Anna McLaren
Facilitator of Anatomy and Physiology, and Bioenergy Healing Workshop
Anna McLaren holds a BA (Hons) in Zoology from Magdalen College, University of Oxford, a diploma in McTimony Chiropractic, and a Moxite Practitioner’s Certificate from the Moxifoundation, Israel. She has worked as a McTimony and Bioenergy practitioner in private practise, and served as both Deputy Senior Practical Tutor and Clinic Supervisor at McTimony College of Chiropractic. More recently she has developed her own system, known as Aura Matrix Body Alignment, drawing from the disciplines she has trained in and her own experience. She served as Chair of the Association for Classical Manipulation 2010-15.
Russ Chapman
Facilitator of Chinese Medicine and Crystal Acupuncture
Russ’s interest in energy medicine began with experiences in Kung Fu and TaiJi lessons he attended in the 1980s. Russ qualified in 1995 from the College of Traditional Acupuncture, and completed a two year post graduate course in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in 1999. He has taken several advanced training courses. These include integrating the use of crystals into acupuncture treatments, basic training in Bach Flower Essences, and the NADA ear point protocol for treating addiction. His treatments are all based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine in general, and ‘The five Elements’ (Wu Xing) in particular. He uses a range of techniques, including needles, moxabustion, crystals and flower essences.
